The Committee of Women for Russian/American Dialogue (CWRAD) was established in 1988 under the auspices of the Claremont Association for Mutual American/Soviet Understanding (CAMASU) in order to promote communication and exchange with the women of Russia. Originally named the Committee of Women for Soviet/American Dialogue (CWSAD), the organization sought to continue the collaboration which began in 1989 with the first Claremont Conference of Soviet and American professional women, followed by conferences in 1990 (Moscow), 1991 (Claremont), and 1993 (Moscow). The Committee of Women for Russian/American Dialogue also organized the Claremont High School Ambassadors to Russia program in 1997 and hosted local educational programming and lectures on women’s issues.
