Scope and content:

This collection consists of one church directory, twenty-three photographs and a postcard. The collection was created by combining various items together prior to donation. The majority of the collection focuses on the First Baptist Church located at 152 East 5th Avenue in Escondido, CA.

Biographical / historical:

Glen M. McArthur was born in Pasadena, CA on the 18th of January 1901. He fought in WWI and WWII and was a master sergeant in the US Marine Corps. He served from 1918-1946. He married Ruby Elrado (McPherson) in 1939. They had two sons from Ruby’s first marriage: Alfred and John Fish. Glen McArthur died on the 24th of February 1987. Ruby McArthur died on the 15th of February 1989. Both are buried in Oak Hill Memorial Park, Escondido.
