This collection consists of legal documents and notes relating to the settling of Clothilde Reed’s estate, as well as postcards written to her in her lifetime. It also includes maps of some of her properties, a handwritten family tree, real estate leases, tax notices and insurance policies.
- Biographical / historical:

Clothilde (or Clotilda) Josefa Reed was born out of wedlock in 1859 to John Joseph Reed, son of John Thomas Reed; and Barbara Sibrian. Her grandfather, John Thomas Reed, was the first Anglo-Saxon settler in Marin County. Her father recognized her as his daughter and heir, and the 1880 census shows her living with her father and his wife, Carlotta. She never married, and died in 1940.
