Scope and content:

The collection consists primarily of Greentree’s subject files and notes on landscape and horticulture in California, especially as they pertain to the ranchos and missions of San Diego County. Files contain copies of articles, Greentree’s own notes and correspondence, booklets, and brochures. Larger subject areas include the Los Penasquitos Rancho, architect Cliff May, and horticulturist Kate Sessions.

Carol Greentree was a landscape and horticulture historian who was based in San Diego for many years. Her area of expertise and focus of study included the adobe ranchos and missions of California, especially in San Diego County.
