The Deaf Women's History Project Collection contains video interviews conducted by Evelyn L. Preston and Caroline Preston Bass as part of a grant-funded project to film deaf women about their lives during World War II. The women interviewed ranged in age from 40 to 94. Some women were interviewed individually, while others were interviewed in groups. The collection is comprised almost entirely of video interviews conducted in sign language, with the exception of one folder of correspondence and research materials related to Hannah Tomiko Holmes' life. Audio translations are available for most of the recordings.

Evelyn L. Preston and her daughter Caroline Preston Bass conducted interviews in this collection as part of a grant-funded project to film deaf women about their experiences during World War II. The Thanks Be to Grandmother Winifred Foundation funded the original project. The master tape recordings were originally part of the CSUN National Center on Deafness Resource Center. Copies of the tapes were available at cost for interested libraries and other resource centers to acquire. Evelyn L. Preston passed away in 2011.
