The Architecture and Design Collection is part of the Art, Design & Architecture Museum at UCSB. With over 250 collections and almost 2 million items, the ADC is one of the largest architectural archives in North America. The archive contains drawings, photographs, models, project papers, decorative objects, and furniture from Southern California architects and designers from the late 19th through the early 21st century, with a specific focus on Southern California Modernism.

The Rowland Henry Crawford papers span 56.5 linear feet and date from circa 1928 to circa 1973. The collection consists of architectural drawings and reprographic copies, correspondence, Crawford’s 1961 daily calendar, three-ring binders devoted to particular projects, newspaper clippings, and Crawford’s project files organized by client’s last name/project name. There are a considerable number of architectural drawings, reprographic copies, and correspondence concerning the Times Mirror Building as well as Crawford’s projects dealing with the remodeling or building of high schools and elementary schools in the Los Angeles area.

Judge (Bernard) papers, circa 1959-2012

The Bernard Judge papers span 40 linear feet and date from circa 1959 to circa 1999. The collection includes his personal papers, correspondence, research files, newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs, sketches, architectural drawings and presentation boards. The bulk of the material relates to three projects which served as intensive research and design experiences for Judge: the Dome house; the Tree House; and designs for Marlon Brando of a residence and resort in Tahiti, on Tetiaroa. The collection also includes drawings and other materials related to nearly 20 other projects designed by Judge for sites in the U.S., Canada, and Tahiti.
