Papers of Donald Allen (1912-1924), an important editor who had a significant impact on the development of post WWII American poetry. The Donald Allen Collection consists of materials pertaining to the editorial work at Grove Press, Four Seasons Foundation, Grey Fox Press, and to special projects Allen did for the University of California, Penguin and St. James presses; materials produced by and regarding the poet Frank O'Hara; papers written by Allen at the Universities of Iowa and California, Berkeley; and finally a substantial correspondence with many of the most important writers and editors in America during the last twenty five years. The addition processed in 1991 contains manuscript and typescript materials related to the Four Seasons Foundation publication of Interviews (1980) by Edward Dorn and The Graces (1983) by Aaron Shurin; and the Grey Fox Press publication of Enough Said (1980) by Philip Whalen and I Remain (1980), a collection of Lew Welch's letters. The addition processed in 2011 enhances the earlier accessions with additional press files, correspondence, as well as Allen's personal subject files.

Papers of American poet and teacher Rae Armantrout, including personal and professional correspondence, notebooks, and typescript drafts of poems and manuscripts. The collection also contains notebooks and lecture notes from literature courses taught by Armantrout from 2000 through 2008.

Papers of James Arnold, chemist, professor, and scholar. The collection documents Arnold's professional career, especially his work on Carbon-14 dating, gamma rays, the Apollo 11, 12, 15, and 16 missions, lunar sample research, meteorites, solar, and lunar history. The collection is also rich in materials related to NASA and the early history of UCSD. The collection includes grant proposals, materials related to research projects such as data, discussion of experiments and results, meeting minutes from both science and UCSD committees, and audiorecordings. The accession processed in 2000 spans the period 1955-1998 and includes awards and commendations, writings and talks, newspaper clippings, NASA publications, and photographs. The prints, slides and a film reel show Arnold and his colleagues and students, laboratories, equipment, testing, and cosmic and planetary features, many related to NASA's space exploration missions. The accession processed in 2011 spans the period 1950-2001 and includes correspondence, teaching materials, writings and research.

The papers of Herman Baca, a National City, California, Chicano rights activist and prominent member of the Mexican-American community, document the contributions and accomplishments made by Baca and the Committee on Chicano Rights. Since the 1960s, Herman Baca has been educating and representing the Chicano community and the rights of undocumented immigrants by means of organizing protests, encouraging self-determination, and defending human rights. The papers embody the organizational elements of the Committee on Chicano Rights, the Mexican-American Political Association, and La Raza Unida Political Party in the form of meeting minutes, correspondence, press releases, writings, membership materials, and articles of incorporation and bylaws. Biographical materials illustrate both Herman Baca's efforts as an individual and his work as a business owner, the latter reflected in the Aztec Printing production files; subject files; legal case documentation; conferences and events both organized and attended; writings of others; a visual component including videorecordings, photographs, individual artist's work and Chicano movement art, and a large portion of newspaper clippings dated 1964-2006.

The J. Robert Beyster Collection documents the career and business records of Dr. J. Robert Beyster (1924-2014), the founder, former chairman and chief executive officer of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), the San Diego based employee-owned research and development firm launched in 1969.

Materials collected by Robert Butts, consisting primarily of diverse works by and regarding New York artist and writer Joe Brainard (1942-1994).

The records of the UCSD Center for Astrophysics and Space Sciences (CASS) include materials related to the administrative functions, research proposals, and projects of CASS, as well as the records of the High Energy Astronomy Group (HEAG).

Papers of Edwin Aubrey Cook (1932-1984), American anthropologist, professor, and specialist in Manga culture in Papua New Guinea. Cook devoted his career to anthropological work, focusing on kinship and social structure of the Manga tribe in Papua New Guinea. The bulk of the collection is comprised of manuscripts, reprints and audio recordings relating largely to Cook and Susan Pflanz-Cook's anthropological studies of native New Guinea society.

Personal papers of British scientist and Nobel Prize winner Francis Harry Compton Crick, who co-discovered the helical structure of DNA with James D. Watson. The papers document Crick's family, social and personal life from 1938 until his death in 2004, and include letters from friends and professional colleagues, family members and organizations. The papers also contain photographs of Crick and his circle; notebooks and numerous appointment books (1946-2004); writings of Crick and others; film and television projects; miscellaneous certificates and awards; materials relating to his wife, Odile Crick; and collected memorabilia.

The Harry Crosby Collection contains photographs of UC San Diego; an exhibit of photographs entitled "Baja California, 1967-1992: Photographs by Harry Crosby"; and a book proposal which led to the publication of The Cave Paintings of Baja California (1975). Also included are black-and-white negatives documenting Sonora, Mexico, between 1960-1970; Tijuana in 1964; and a study of ranches and ranch life in Baja California from 1967-1997.
